Project Overview
The project will feature seven large-scale portraits (2.4m x 1.6m), each depicting a different perfume shopkeeper within their shop—illustrating them as the heart and soul of these aromatic spaces. These portraits will be a lasting homage to the Guardians of Jazan’s fragrant legacy.
In the style of my “Guardians” series, the portraits will place viewers in direct connection with the subjects and their environments. The composition will highlight the deep bond between the shopkeeper and their cultivated space.

Artistic Approach
By presenting these portraits in large format, accompanied by audio that shares the stories of the “Guardians,” I aim to create an immersive experience that enables viewers to fully engage with both the subjects and their spaces. This approach emphasizes the dignity and craftsmanship of these “Guardians” while evoking a sense of memory and presence, particularly as some shops face closure due to modern pressures.
The exhibition will transform the museum into a gallery of memory and resilience, celebrating the ongoing cultural relevance of Jazan’s aromatic industry. My seven “Guardians” will be showcased in Gallery 4: Perceiving Scents, adding a sensory layer to the visual experience and deepening the audience's connection to Jazan’s aromatic history.
Deliverables
Seven High-Resolution Portraits: Each portrait will be printed at 2.4m x 1.6m on Hahnemühle Fine Art archival paper and mounted on Dibond according to the museum’s specifications. These prints are part of the Artist Proof edition and will not be available at this size outside of the museum.
Audio Recordings: Each “Guardian” will share personal stories and insights into the perfume trade, adding depth to the viewer experience.
Suggested Addition: Translation and dubbing of the audio recordings into English for foreign visitors. (Additional cost applies)
Suggested Addition: Audio descriptions and Arabic transcripts for visitors who are hearing impaired. (Additional cost applies)
Video Documentation: Behind-the-scenes footage capturing key moments and interactions, suitable for social media and archival purposes. (Additional cost applies if external videography support is required.)
Digital Files: A digital file of each portrait will be provided for the museum’s archival purposes.
Fees and Pricing
Based on the dimensions of the requested prints (2.4m x 1.6m), the pricing is as follows:
Per print (2.4m x 1.6m): 15 000 EUR (61 400 SAR)
Total for seven portraits: 15 000 EUR x 7 = 105 000 EUR (430 000 SAR)
As part of my collaboration with the Jazan Aromatic Plants and Incense Museum,
I am pleased to offer a 20% discount:
Total with discount: 105 000 EUR - 20% = 84 000 EUR (344 000 SAR)
The fees quoted above encompass all aspects of the project, including the time spent on production, post-production, printing, as well as the licensing and acquisition costs for the portraits and audio recordings. This comprehensive pricing ensures that all elements necessary for the successful execution of the project are accounted for.
It is important to note that these prints are part of the Artist Proof edition and will not be available at this size outside of the museum, emphasizing their exclusivity and significance within the context of this collaboration.
The price includes all production costs (printing and mounting), but shipping costs
are not included and will be invoiced separately.

Travel and Accommodation
To ensure the successful production and installation of this project, three key trips to the Jazan region are required. The first trip will allow me to explore the area, scout locations, and capture the portraits of the “Guardians of Perfume” in their authentic spaces. A second visit will be necessary to supervise the installation process and ensure that the work aligns with the museum’s vision. Finally, I will make a third trip to attend the official opening, where I can engage with the community and support the launch of this meaningful exhibition.
